What is there to do at Seymour Lake Township Park?
Seymour Lake Park is an expansive 132-acre park with many things to do for a wide range of ages and interests:
Tennis and Pickleball
The park has 4 well-maintained, lighted tennis courts right near the front of the park. Recently the park lined the tennis courts for pickleball.
Softball
Two of the 4 softball fields have lights, and these are right up near the front of the park.
Baseball
The 4 baseball fields are located toward the back of the park.
Soccer and Lacrosse
The park has 8 premier soccer fields at the back end of the park.
Playgrounds
There are several play areas throughout the park. Kids Kingdom is the largest and most popular of the playgrounds and is close to the front of the park near the restrooms. It is a favorite of kids and caregivers alike. The playground is well-maintained and fun for all ages of kids. Caregivers appreciate the completely fenced area (other than the entrance gate) with strategic seating so that they can easily keep an eye on the kids. The restroom building is on the fence line and has restrooms facing into the playground and out into the rest of the park. These are separate restrooms, so there is no way a child could enter from inside the playground area and go out the other side.
Picnic Areas
You will find picnic areas scattered throughout the park for ease of use near the places where you may be attending a game or meeting up for some fun with others.
Rentals
There are 4 facilities available for rent at Seymore Lake Township Park:
- Smith Silo
- Rick Laidler Pavilion
- Prince Pavilion
- Hanson Pavilion
Sledding and Ice Skating
The “Zoom Zoom Sledding Hill” is a favorite in the snowy months, and the ice skating rink is just in front of it. These are in the back of the park, adjacent to the largest pavilion.
Disc Golf
If you’re pressed for time, the 18-hole disc golf is easy to break into the front 9 or the back 9 holes. This course is a family favorite, and we use it regularly. The pond in the middle of the 2nd hole is filled with large goldfish and bullfrogs. The pond’s critters are fun to watch, but the pond itself is fed a steady diet of discs. Thankfully, someone regularly scuba-dives the pond to retrieve lost discs. If your name and number are on your disc, he will call you so that you can get your disc back. Many holes have two different teepads and sometimes 2 or 3 different baskets for varied player levels. The people on the course are friendly and welcoming of all abilities.
Volleyball
There are 2 sand volleyball courts, conveniently located near the bathrooms.
Basketball
The park has a basketball court.
Splash Pad
Seymour Lake Park K.L.R. Splash Pad is popular for kids in the hot months. The pad has multiple places where the water pours, sprays, or shoots upward for refreshing fun. The water features are on a timer, so you will see a child darting over to the magic button to restart the water play every few minutes. Entrance to the pad is free, but it is also unsupervised at this time. Fences, benches, and umbrellas surround the pad, so watching the kids cool down is easy and comfortable. The pad has been staffed and required a small fee per person in the past, so please check ahead if you are planning to enjoy some splash pad fun.
Gaga Ball Pit
This pit is inside the Kids Kingdom playground.
Farmers Market
New as of 2023 is the Davis Family Farmers Market. The hours for the market are Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from mid-May to the end of October.
