Put Old Nation Brewing on Your Must-Try List. Outstanding Brews.
Old Nation Brewing Co. is right on Grand River in Williamston, Michigan. This brewery has great beer and delicious food. If you are driving along I96, it isn’t too far out of the way to take a tasty detour and make a stop.
How We Found Old Nation Brewing
We stumbled onto this fantastic modern brewery, taking the long way home from Lansing and scanning around for dinner along the way. We are sure glad that we stopped here. The staff was friendly, and everything tasted so good.
The Beers
Gerret had a Whirled Beer, and I had a dark, but I can’t remember which one. Likely the Old Nation Brown. They were both delicious. The dark was nice and smooth with a great taste. The Whirled I expected to be like a Blue Moon, which I don’t really care for, but it was soooo much better. Very very good! Check out their beer list for more options.
The Food
For food, we started with their popular Shareable Soft Pretzel. They are not messing around with the shareable part. It was huge and yummy. For dinner, Gerret had the Blackened Bacon Burger with little tater tots, and I had the Olive Burger with onion rings. Both were outstanding. These are the best burgers we’ve had in a long time. The Olive Burger was topped with nothing but the olive aioli sauce, and it did not need anything else. Perfection!

If you enjoy microbreweries, also put Gravel Capital Brewery in Oxford, Michigan, on your list. They often have a sour beer on tap, and those are always good there. If you aren’t a sour beer person, they have plenty more, including wine and seltzers. Or Atwater Brewery in Grand Rapids. Yummy Beers and tasty food there as well. If you want to sample several different breweries at once, Water Tower Sports Bar. They carry only Michigan Craft Beers on tap and have them from several different breweries.
