Plan a trip to Warstler Farm for a fun, one-of-a-kind experience.

Warstler Farm provides creative and fun events in Oxford, Michigan. The farm offers both public and private events. We recently attended a private event and got a sneak peek at their newest public event. Both were a blast. We continue to be amazed by the creativity and care that goes into each event at this hidden gem.

What is at Warstler Farm?

Warstler Farm in Oxford, Michigan, hosts events across various buildings. The main barn is a warm, rustic-yet-comfortable standout. It was built around 1870; although it has received some updates, it retains the rich historic charm of the era, perfect for your events. The farm also has a smaller updated barn, a farmhouse, and a new milkhouse (currently under construction). Besides the unique buildings, you will find horses, a unicorn, tractors, trolley cars (originally from the Detroit Zoo), and a restored antique dump truck. All of these are available for events.

Public Events

Warstler Farm hosts at least two public events every fall and winter—one in October for fall fun and one in November and December for Christmas. We have participated in both, and they are a great way to celebrate different holidays and seasons.

Private Events

Warstler Farm offers a plethora of private event options, perfect for girls’ night out and more. Here are a few for your consideration – bridal and baby showers, graduation parties, birthday parties (for all ages), unicorn parties (yes, unicorns – check their things-to-do page), etc. There are also private Trolley and horse-drawn carriage rides.

Our Most Recent Adventure – the Dinner Trolley

We attended a Private Dinner Trolley at Warstler Farm and also managed to get a sneak peek at their new-for-2023 fall/Halloween event. More about that in a minute.

The Dinner Trolley included pre- and post-trolley opportunities to gather in the Big Barn over drinks and snacks. Before the ride to dinner in Metamora, we hung out in the Big Barn, chatting with other guests and our hosts while enjoying hors d’oeuvres. We enjoyed a lovely 30-minute trolley ride to downtown Metamora which ended at the Whitehorse Inn (open since 1850!). The Dinner Trolley includes reservations, and we were seated right away.

Dinner at the Whitehorse Inn was a relaxed affair, and the lead server (there were three) took a bright and entertaining charge with the available menu items (six types of potatoes!). The food was excellent, by the way.

After dinner, we trolleyed back down the back roads to the farm. A support truck followed at a safe distance – those back roads are very dark! Most people wore light windbreakers, a weather-wise tip to keep in mind for your own trolley ride.

When we returned to the farm, there were deliciously-sweet cakes, photo opportunities with the permanent residents (see below), and more conversation.

A sneak peek into Warstler Farm’s autumn event…

Thanks for sticking with us! Here’s a peek into some autumn joy you might catch … if you’re not too late. (No gimmick; Warstler Farm’s trolley ride events fill up FAST.)

New for this year is a trolley skeleton scavenger hunt. Traveling slowly through the dark woods behind the farm, intrepid trolley-riders (trolleyers?) use flashlights to pick out skeletal vignettes along the trail.

Note: the displays are targeted for ages 2-12 in terms of the fright-factor – they are humorous, not horrific. Fun, not frightening. You get the idea.

Although they didn’t have all the displays done yet (it was a sneak peek, after all!), the ones we saw were devilishly creative and well done! Searching for the (not-so-spooky) skeletons in the forest as the trolley trundles along was an experience we didn’t know we needed and were so glad to enjoy

P.S. Pro Tip: keep your flashlights pointed outside the trolley cars, or risk being de-trolleyed by your blinded neighbors.
