Have you Heard of TagaBrew? Enjoy Craft Beer or Wine? Come along with us and find out more.

TagaBrew is a giant brewery (and winery) trail ranging across 18 states, mainly located in the Midwest, South, and East. TagaBrew is the largest brewery trail in the United States. Michigan alone has 265 stops on the TagaBrew Trail. Check the TagaBrew website or the app for an interactive map to find places near you or where you plan to travel. You can check off the places you have been and give them ratings on the app. You can purchase a tag to commemorate your stop at that brewery or winery when you visit the locations. The Breweries all have different charms and tags representing the establishment.

Breweries We’ve Visited

We have been to 6 Breweries on the TagaBrew Trail and have enjoyed them all.

Gravel Capital Brewery

Gravel Capital Brewery is located in Oxford, Michigan, and is one of our favorite Breweries. They have a wide variety of beers, wines, ciders, and seltzers. Gravel Capital does not serve food, but there is free self-serve popcorn, and a local pizzeria, Sick Pizza Co., has QR codes on the table for ordering delicious pizza. You can also pick up food to bring in. Kairos Pizza occasionally sets up their food truck for dinner there as well. The brewery has regular live music, comedy nights, Trivia, and other events. Check their FaceBook page for updated information.

Home Grown Brewery

Home Grown Brewery is located in Oxford, Michigan. All the beers we have had there have been delicious. They serve food, and their focus is local, fresh, and inventive. It’s not your typical fare, so if you are an adventurous eater, check them out. They have a lovely patio, a bar, an event space, and more traditional table seating. Home Grown has regularly scheduled live music and other events. Check their Facebook page for information.

Elk Street Brewery and Tap Room

Elk Street Brewery and Tap Room is in Sandusky, Michigan. We stopped there as part of our Lexington weekend getaway. The brewery is themed like an old fire station, and its TagaBrew charm is a firefighter’s helmet. The drinks and food we had were all delicious. The atmosphere was casual and elegant at the same time. We enjoyed our brief stop in Sandusky to visit this brewery on the TagaBrew Trail. For updated events and happenings, check the Facebook page.

3North Lexington

3North is in Lexington, Michigan. This restaurant is a winery and tap room serving wines, ciders, and beers. They also serve a light menu but have enough choices to fill you up. The pickle flatbread is delicious. We visited the taproom as part of our weekend getaway in Lexington. We tried a flight of wines there and enjoyed all the different flavors they experimented with. 3 North has a great, relaxed urban vibe.

Dixie Saloon

Dixie Saloon is in Downtown Mackinaw City, near the foot of the Mackinac Bridge, next to the ferry boat to Mackinac Island. The Dixie Saloon has been in operation since 1890 and was situated at the end of Dixie Highway, which ran from Florida up to the Saloon, where it ended. Interstate 75 replaced Dixie Highway, but the Dixie Saloon still waits to greet you with a cold brew and a tasty meal at the end of the road. The building is beautiful, and the food and drinks are delicious. We highly recommend the blueberry beer, Happy to Be Here, and the Fried Pickle Sandwich. Yum.

Atwater Brewery Grand Rapids

We stopped at the Atwater Brewery in Grand Rapids while visiting the city for a Daytrip. We were already familiar with some of the beers from Atwater, so we tried some others that we hadn’t had before, and they were pretty yummy. The food was also good. The atmosphere was energized the day we visited because the Lions were playing in a playoff game, but there was room to sit, and the patrons were excited and friendly.

Bonus Pub

Water Tower Sports Pub in Lexington is not a brewery and not on the TagaBrew Trail, but we mention them here because they are worth adding to your stops if you are in the area. They have only Michigan Beers and Ciders on tap, and their fresh, local, scratch-made foods are delicious. This pub is a great place to stop for a bite to eat and to try some brews from several of our Michigan Breweries in one spot. You could check the TagaBrew App to see if some of the drinks you liked best are from breweries on the TagaBrew Trail. Then, you can visit those breweries to try more of their beers.

Delicious beers! Really, they were outstanding.

More to Come

We didn’t know about TagaBrew until we saw the tags in one of our favorite breweries and asked about them. After doing a bit more research online, we thought it would be a lot of fun to add this to our lists as we explore different areas. We enjoy trying different beers, and the charms are fun to collect and unique to each brewery. We will continue adding Breweries as we visit more of them.
