There are a few extra loops in the trail if you want to make it a little longer, or you can join the Polly Ann trail and extend your walk as much as you would like.

What to do at Powell Lake Park

Fishing and Nature Observation

A fishing and observation pier extends over the clear lake water, which makes it easy to see the fish, turtles, and muskrats that call this lake home. You may also see Snowy Egrets or Great Blue Herons in the summer, as well as a variety of other birds on the wooded edge of the lake.

Rest along the Paths

Along the trail are benches at the top of a rather steep hill overlooking the lake.  The view of Powell Lake is beautiful, and the combination of that and the seating invites you to sit awhile and take it all in.

Picnic and Playground

A Pavilion with a large charcoal grill and a noteworthy playground greet you as you pull into the parking area for Powell Lake Park.  The playground is home to various play structures and built-in toys that are unlike what you would expect.  The play structures are unique. They allow for a wide range of ages and abilities, so almost anyone from a small child to a grown adult can enjoy them.  Several activities are cooperative and require more than one person to operate effectively.  We like to take a spin in this playground on occasion.  The playground is right next to the walking path for easy convenience.
