Dig into the best Craft Beers, Ciders, and Wines at Gravel Capital Brewery

Gravel Capital Brewery in Oxford, Michigan, has a fantastic list of craft beers, ciders, and wines. There is something for every taste. Flavors rotate as they brew new ones.

Gravel Captial Name

At one time, Oxford was named the Gravel Capital of the World. While that may no longer be true, several large gravel pits still operate in the area. The local history and current gravel pits around the village inspire not only the name of the brewery but also many of their brews, such as “Gravel Berry Pie” and “Pebbel Pilsner”. The unique draft pull handles made with stones are a perfect touch.

Mug Club

Mug clubs are more common now, but there is a twist at Gravel Capital Brewery in Oxford. They partnered with an art studio in Lake Orion to offer special mugs for their customers. When you purchase a membership, you can upgrade for a small fee and paint your own mug at the studio. They fire it for you, and you can use your mug for your drinks. If, at some point, you decide to cancel your membership, the mug is yours to take with you. While you sit at the bar, you can see the variety of mugs on the wall. They are interesting, and the owners showcase their creativity. We enjoy looking at them.

Indoor and Outdoor Seating

Gravel Capital Brewery has a variety of indoor and outdoor seating options. They have a long bar and many tables for customers to use. Outside, they have a small patio. Just off the patio is a common area that is part of the social district. You can take your drink to that area in a to-go cup if the outdoor seating area is full.

Food and Fun

If you are hungry, you are in the right place, even though Gravel Capital Brewery doesn’t serve food. Some nights, a food truck offers food to the patrons, but if there isn’t a food truck on site the night you visit, feel free to order for delivery or pick up from any number of downtown restaurants, including Sick Pizza or Red Knapps. If you need a little something to go with your drinks, Gravel Capital has free popcorn all day, every day.

There are often events going on in the evenings at Gravel Capital. They host trivia nights, live bands, comedy nights, and more. Check their website for details. Check out their games on-site if you are there when there are no events. There are quite a few, and we have enjoyed several of them.

One last note. The waitstaff here is amazing. They are fast, know the drinks available, and can make recommendations. If they aren’t busy, they are happy to take the time to have a chat with you about beer, cider, the town, or anything else you might have on your mind. They are a great crew and add a lot to the atmosphere here.

If you are in town, drop by and try something new. They do offer flights, so try several new things if you are up for it. You won’t regret it. When they have a sour beer on tap, those have been our favorites.
